When an endeavor is able to gain backing from those who are popular in the world, I think it’s apparent that it can only grow from that point. This is the case for growing organic crops and, more specifically, how one certain celebrity is taking steps to make it happen. Oprah Winfrey is a name that just about everyone in America – as well as other parts of the world – know quite well. My only concern, though, is just what the results of this endeavor will prove to be.
It seems like Oprah has decided to try her hand at growing organic crops and it’s possible that it couldn’t be done without the work done on her farm in Maui. As a result, she has the means to go about it from an agriculture standpoint but she made certain that all of the legal initiatives were taken as well. This was seen due to her registration of the titles “Oprah’s Organics” and “Oprah’s Harvest.” I don’t think that networks the likes of Colle Farmers Market can deny the impact of this potential action.
It’s clear that Oprah’s charitable nature had come into play, as beforehand she was giving away the food that was grown on the farm. However, a close friend of Oprah’s, Bob Greene – a fitness expert – said that the selling will occur in time. I think that this idea has a great deal of potential, not only because of Oprah’s name value but the value seen in going organic as well. However, I can’t help but to have my concerns as far as this matter is concerned, too.
In order for this to be the most effective venture Oprah’s has gone on, she has to make sure that the crops are sold at affordable prices. It was recently reported that Prince Charles of Wales had to close down his own market because the prices were ones that not many people could have afforded. Business cannot happen if the revenue doesn’t come in. If Oprah can keep this aspect in mind, she can certainly bring her farm into a much more profitable future.
Do I think that Oprah can follow through when it comes to growing organic crops? I strongly believe that she can because of the resources that, in theory, she can easily get her hands on. She will be able to afford some of the best, which means that her market can become one of the most profitable. However, this will not be seen if she doesn’t take into consideration a number of setbacks that had fallen upon potential farmers in the past; these could make or break her work.
